You Potentially Have It Wrong
As a person grows up we tend to think that their potential does not grow along with them. To some it may seem that a person’s ability to improve and grow as a person hits a ceiling once they finish their so called “learning”, or find themselves in a comfortable spot in life where they may stay for a while. Once a person lands here a large assumption is made. Where they are and the direction they are going, is where they will end up in their future. And they may not have a lot of say in the matter.
Hidden Underneath
It is true that the path we find ourselves on as we grow becomes harder and harder to change. This does not mean that the path becomes farther and farther away. The shiny yellow brick road is still there, and may just be hidden under years of fallen foliage from our once hopeful trees.
We greatly underestimate the potential of people all throughout their lives, and the majority of the doubters are the very ones they doubt. As we grow older we are more capable of learning but we lack the motivation, as our jaded years grow in number. We choose to let the once bright yellow road become littered with more and more brown and dying spots.
Doubt Won’t Ever Help You Out
Doubting may start to grow when the late 20s show their face. It may start growing when 30 is no longer in the future. Either way if doubting starts and the trend continues, then it will continue on until we no longer have any more potential to doubt. With the yellow once leading the way, now gone from view. The potential which you possess is not determined by your years. Your potential is only as great as you allow it to grow, as you silence doubt after doubt.
Reality Still Exists But…
There may be certain areas where potential decreases as you grow older. Physically the body ages, so your Olympics dreams of winning the gold medal in the 400m dash will fade more and more as your 401k increases. But just because one area of potential is closing doesn’t mean that there are not 4 more waiting for you. You just need to get past the one which is closing.
As the path of life is traveled, you travel farther and farther from where you started. With all the experiences and life lessons which are certainly met along the path. There is no doubt that potential still grows as time passes by. It is up to the traveler to see the potential for what it is, and to find the yellow path still hidden beneath.
Life Is Lifelong
Life is too awesome, in the true sense of the word, to think that after your prime that you have less to offer. Just because a little more time has past. As the path is traveled, the traveler may grow weary but only as he grows stronger. The experience of life and all its trials is greatly under-appreciated, and with the growth of this alone there is a growth of potential.
Silence the critics by doing more than you did in the past, and do it no matter how long the future may last. No matter the person, each day has more than enough potential than can be handled. Just try and grasp the most that you can before today is in the past.
