What To Do With Inspiration

In Living Life by LivingToTheUtmost

So I Got This, What Now?

Inspiration has been something that people have used to change their own lives, the lives of others, and even the world time and time again. Great inventors, philosophers, humanitarians, and the common folk alike have used the inspirational moment to get started or past that difficulty in the roadway, which is always present along an important journey.

We have all been there and experienced the story, song or person that connected with us deep down and gave us a run of inspirational momentum. We feel that we should be able to solve all the problems in our lives and in the world with this inspiration alone. But usually this encounter with inspiration ends up being squandered and lost once we realize that Netflix was the only thing on the to do list. We simply can’t determine what it is in the first place that we want to do. So what are you gonna do when inspiration knocks on the door and you ask yourself, what do I do now?

More Than The End Goal

The large majority of people have grandiose plans to accomplish great things but usually only have the end goal actually figured out. The reason why this is so common among the majority, myself included, is because the end goal is the easiest part to plan. While all the steps before encompass the mass of the work.

Find Some Plans

Take someone who wants to build a beautiful log cabin to live in. All they have is the idea of a beautiful log cabin. They have no plans, building skills, or even know where to get the logs. As a result the person will be unable to act upon an inspiring moment and will not be able to make any progress. The only way inspiration can be utilized is to have an idea of where the plan begins.

It’s Cliche, But It Is Tough To Try And Capture Lightning In A Bottle

Inspiration strikes like lightning during an unexpected thunderstorm. If you were trying to capture it in a bottle, which I imagine is highly improbably and more likely lethal. To have any chance of success, you would at least need a bottle. Without the bottle, it would truly be impossible.

A few areas in my own life where I would like to fill up my bottle with lightning would be: writing, learning, and helping others. These are all broad areas in and among themselves but the key is to at least have the bottle.

You Might Need To Pick Up A Shovel

Once you have the plans in hand, it is important to utilize inspiration to actually begin the building process. This is the hardest part, and the part which faces the majority of doubt. Once you start, as you move forward you will be relying highly on perseverance. The cabin simply cannot be built on inspiration alone. Inspiration is like a spring which flows into what starts out as a shallow pond. To ensure that it does not continue to run dry, you need to be adding depth by persistently digging the pond deeper.

What Does A Plan Look Like?

So what does a plan look like? When writing inspiration hits me, I make sure to have any topics I would like to write about handy. In learning, having a list of books ready at hand to dive into helps. In trying to help others, the way in which to help others must be determined. I started this site in hopes of helping others. Inspiration definitely leaves me feeling dry at times, but the more I write, the deeper my pond grows.Without having a plan and resources in site, when inspiration finds you, you simply will be stuck instead of getting yourself moving in the direction of change.

You Can’t Start If You Don’t Know Your First Step

Individuals are capable of accomplishing incredible things when propelled by inspirations. Yet we simply need to determine those things in which we want to achieve before inspiration strikes. It all comes down to the simple fact that you can’t start if you don’t know what your first step in the plan is. Inspiration is all around, but it doesn’t last long.

Life, keep it simple and live it
